OCEAN - Yes, what exactly do you want? References to publications? Do you have "Chinense Glass Beads: A Review of the Evidence? You can buy it in the book store (link above). It's not expensive and will point you in the right direction on all Chiense beads from the historical standpoint. ~ Peace

Bonnie: - a1.pm3-24.theriver.com - Saturday, October 30, 1999 at 20:41:07 (EDT) Pete, see what I mean! Did I start a vegetatian thumper at your door or what the heck do white beads, porcupines and vegan's have to do with any of this? I went to Kawaii, Hi. last year to stay with an old chum who had given up meat , dairy etc. At first I had a great deal of respect for her until she became a thumper on the issue. I love my cologne, I wear deoderant and I eat meat !! I also am a size 3 where my friend is a 16. If it makes you happy......it can't be all that bad...it was the water that got me in Mexico not any blasted meat Jurgen.....and by the way I am not of any Christian belief if anybody wants to hit on that issue too. The yogurt was a good idea that I had forgotten about. Thanks, Pete !! May we all live in peace , and what works for one doesn't mean it will for everybody.
Pete: - acc-31.northnet.org - Friday, October 29, 1999 at 01:09:47 (EDT) SUSANA - There are many sites that sell beads. Go to the Home Page (above, Home), to the Shopping Mall and click on Commercial Links for a long list. JURGEN - I am not sure I understand this riddle. Are you saying you eat cute little baby porcupines? Do you remove the spines first? ~ Peace

Jürgen Busch: - spider-wk044.proxy.aol.com - Thursday, October 28, 1999 at 19:11:03 (EDT) Pete: indeed - I still shoot myself! No problem, but will cost you 2x90 bucks (vegetarians half price). Call my bureau for availability in my workshops: Meat Identification 1 + 2.

Pete: - acc-44.northnet.org - Wednesday, October 27, 1999 at 21:54:46 (EDT) JHAN - Yeah, I was wondering, too. It had been so lively. Maybe between us all we've answered all the questions. I was the one who tested with . . BONNIE - No, you might be thinking of someone Else. Milo (who is a woman, if I recall correctly) has an excellent command of the language. It is just that she used an "Austalianism" once that I thought not everyone would understand. STEFANY - What a mess. I back up my address book. Guess you'lll start doing that, too. ~ Pete
Stefany Tomalin: - lon-qbu-bsf-vty137.as.wcom.net - Wednesday, October 27, 1999 at 17:59:52 (EDT) You will find a very simple "Egyptian paste" recipe on p72 of my first book, "Beads!" which I was given by Mary Seyd when we tried it in beadmaking classes in 1975 I think, and fired in a sawdust heap kiln out of doors. we made a tu rquoise, a cobalt blue, and a mauvey manganese brown. It was rather gooey and like modelling in mud rather than clay. PS my entire email address list just wiped out, so if I ever corresponded with anyone here personally, or you would like me to in the fut ure, feel free to make contact and let me have your address again!!!StefanyTomalinBeads@compuserve.com
Bonnie: - a20.pm3-31.theriver.com - Wednesday, October 27, 1999 at 16:09:45 (EDT) Pete, had no clue where Milo was from... I assumed he was the one who had a hard time with his english......they have the delightful accent !!
Jhan: - ospreysystems.com - Wednesday, October 27, 1999 at 10:34:41 (EDT) Been slow the last few days. Everyone must be getting ready for Halloween. I've been working on Yuletide, myself. Mennorah beads anyone? How about snowmen? Had a great time on the torch last night, and will be doing more tonight.
Pete: - acc-27.northnet.org - Monday, October 25, 1999 at 01:45:24 (EDT) SHAWN - No one today, as far as I know. At the end of the last century Bohemia made some that are much larger, 13 mm corner-to-corner if I remember correctly. These are collectable. None were twisted. TOYA - Current story on the Home Page. Alternate name: Mala beads. MILO - Thanks for coming up wit the recipies. BEEDZ - Thanks for the URL.
Beeedz: - mhtc-cache.mhtc.net - Monday, October 25, 1999 at 00:51:24 (EDT) Moon Dancer: For an extensive list of Cherokee-related sites, check this site: www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=tsalagi&list
Milo: - 203.35.134.144 - Sunday, October 24, 1999 at 18:51:50 (EDT) Some time ago there was a request for Egyptian Paste Recipe, well over the weekend I cleaned out and found two, Self Glazing - Handle as little as possible3: 40 gr Felspar 20 Silica 15 Kaolin 5 Ball Clay 6 Sodium BiCarbonate 6 Soda Ash or Borate 5 Whiting 8 Fine White Sand 3% Copper Oxide
The Second is 80 Felspar 40 Silica 20 Soda Ash 20 BiCarbonate Soda 40 Ball F Clay 3% Copper Oxide.
These will give a blue colour, for yellow and red use other oxides. Fire as for a bisc firing. They are delicate if too thin.
Toya: - 164.76.111.240 - Sunday, October 24, 1999 at 17:58:23 (EDT) Hi i got a quick question for anyone who knows anything about power beads. I have been looking for the meaning of the beads I bought yesterday. They are red with the chinese writing symbol on it, does anyone know where i can find the meaning or does anyone know the meaning??
Shawn: - pool-209-138-129-76.atln.grid.net - Sunday, October 24, 1999 at 17:10:06 (EDT) Pete-Thanks for responding. I suspect you are right. Is anybody making something similar to Nueva Cadiz these days?
Beaderbarb: - spider-ta053.proxy.aol.com - Sunday, October 24, 1999 at 00:00:20 (EDT) Like Sara, I also would like to find clasps or end bars with 4 or five holes to attach to beadwork... I would really like to find them small enough to use for ending peyote bracelets etc that are 5 to 10 beads wide done in delica be ads, so the finding would have to be 1/4" to 5/16" wide at most. All the multi-strand clasps I have seen are much larger than this so would be wider than the beadwork.
Helen: - spider-wk062.proxy.aol.com - Saturday, October 23, 1999 at 15:51:36 (EDT) Pam Try back issues of Bead and Button mag or Beadwork. They've had frogs and fish, some flowers
pam: - cras58p32.navix.net - Saturday, October 23, 1999 at 12:05:28 (EDT) where can i get good patterns for 3d beaded art eg:animals, flowera etc.? pt94931@alltel.net
Moon Dancer: - a10.pm3-47.theriver.com - Saturday, October 23, 1999 at 01:22:51 (EDT) ANyone have any information on Cherokee Indians and bead work?
Sara: - nap-oec.max1-50.anet-chi.com - Friday, October 22, 1999 at 20:52:56 (EDT) Greetings. I recently started beading, and am unhappy with the findings I have seen in the stores and on the internet. In particular, I am looking for multi-strand clasps or end-bars. The ones I have found look/are cheap. Also, t he largest I have found are for four strands. I want somthing larger. Does anyone know where I can find simple and elegant findings such as have I described?
daisy: - 203.126.205.21 - Friday, October 22, 1999 at 19:57:03 (EDT) thanks Jhan
Jhan: - ospreysystems.com - Friday, October 22, 1999 at 10:50:13 (EDT) Milo and Daisy- The handout is in progress. I have the equipment list, am working on shop safety and set-up. Once I finish that, I will forward that much on to the two of you. Then I'll write the process for making your first simple beads.
Pete: - acc-12.northnet.org - Friday, October 22, 1999 at 01:20:08 (EDT) BEADERBARB AND EVERYONE - The Chat Line is no longer being archived because Greg the Techie set it up so that you can change the "Display the last" to any number and go down through past conversations. You may have to go to 250-300 messages, but it is all there. The default is set at 20 so the page comes up quickly. JURGEN - I am not going to get into this here. I have been a vegetarian for 30 years and think it is wise. Most bad food is meat-based. How do you know that something is fresh or old? Did you shoot it yourself? BEADERBARB - I'd like to see more of this done. You need to set a time several days ahead, I think. SHAWN - No info from me. I doubt there are any genuine Nueva Cadiz beads that have not been looted from some burial ground or similar site. ~ Peace
Shawn: - pool-209-138-128-163.atln.grid.net - Thursday, October 21, 1999 at 18:53:59 (EDT) Hello All-I am interested in purchasing Nueva Cadiz beads and was curious what the market price range is?
beaderbarb : - spider-we014.proxy.aol.com - Thursday, October 21, 1999 at 16:02:41 (EDT) Pete or anyone- Is it a good idea to give email address on this chat line, or will I get a bunch of unwanted replies from well- you know - cyberweirdos ? I'm in Central Oregon and would likAnyone in Pacific time want to try setting up a time to chat? I'll check back in a while.
juergen busch: - spider-tp021.proxy.aol.com - Thursday, October 21, 1999 at 15:53:49 (EDT) Pete, why do you think meat should be avoided to stay healthy abroad? I would like to add the word "old" (or "not fresh") to meat here. Fresh meat, for example in Africa, is definitely no risc, when grilled etc. If I had the choice, I would prefer African over European or American hormon or penicilin meat. DEFINITELY! So this turns to be a meat, rather than a bead site...?
juergen
beaderbarb: - spider-we014.proxy.aol.com - Thursday, October 21, 1999 at 15:39:10 (EDT) Pete - Thanks for the acknowledgement. I would like to see what everyone's been talking about more recently than 4/99- is the Chat Archives going to be updated?
Laurie: - ip220-7.cc.interlog.com - Thursday, October 21, 1999 at 11:56:13 (EDT) Under newsgroups go to rec.crafts.glass and ask questions about glasswork. The kiln shelf problem has been discussed there and there are some very knowledgable people.
