Artist's Name:

Kim (B/K)

Owner's (Cindy's) Comments:

This beautiful "Starry Night" amulet bag was a gift from B/K in celebration of my new job. It's worked in peyote stitch using #13 cut peacock-colored seed beads, and highlighted with peacock-colored bugles and bugle twists, with round fire-polished bead accents. B/K prefers to bead intuitively, instead of using patterns. Her creative use of these lovely iridescent beads has a stunning result, and this bag brings more compliments with every wearing. Thanks again, B/K, for this awesome gift! You'll turn me into a beader yet!

Ame Gosnell

Owner's (Pete's) Comments:

Ame, a stalwart on the Chat Line, made this and gave it to me when I spoke in Seattle in May 2000. I'm not sure how she knew I was so fond of butterflies, but I cherish this one. It's a magnet, so I have it on one of my file cabinets. The antennae are three-dimensional. Thanks, Ame.

Bobby Key

Artist's Comments:

I got this idea from Bead Craft magazine. It's made with transparent deep burgundy, cream pearl, gold lined clear and copper pearl seeds with pressed Czech leaves, gold roses and vintage German rounds. This time I skipped using a pattern and just went with the flow of the beads.

I think it looks lovely hanging in my library/craft room, my husband thinks it looks like a squid! Oh well.

Name of Piece:

Artist's Comments:

This is a dichroic glass piece that I beaded around using 11o seed beads. The entire necklace is 16" (41 cm) long.

Details follow:

The strap is done in peyote stitch for about three inches (7.5 cm), then the back is done in Cheyenne or brick stitch. I added picots on the strap,

Two strands of Swarovski crystals are suspended beneath the centerpiece. The beaded glass piece is 2 5/8" wide and 1 5/8" high (6.7 x 4.1 cm).
