Top to bottom it is about 35 mm (1 2/5 inches) long. It is lenticular in cross section and the hole at the wide bottom flares out. It is made of chlorite or a similar stone.
What is it? It is a piece (I am sure it has a separate name) used to connect the blade and handle of a dagger or short sword. Such weapons were popular in Mogul India (16th to 18th centuries), with these pieces being made of jade. This is part of a poor man's weapon from Iran.
